Choosing the Right Aluminium Window System for Dubai's Climate
Dubai's extreme heat, humidity, and sand exposure place unique demands on aluminium window systems. Choosing the wrong system can result in heat gain, condensation, corrosion, and premature failure — all costly problems to fix after installation.
What to Look For
The most important factor is the thermal break specification. A thermally broken aluminium profile contains an insulating material — usually polyamide — between the inner and outer sections of the frame. This dramatically reduces heat transfer and prevents condensation forming on the interior surface.
Glass Specification Matters Too
In Dubai, we recommend low-emissivity (Low-E) double-glazed units with a solar control coating. These units reflect a significant proportion of solar radiation before it enters the building, reducing air conditioning load and improving occupant comfort.
- Look for a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) below 0.25 for west-facing elevations
- Argon-filled cavities improve thermal performance by around 10–15% over air-filled units
- Acoustic interlayers are worth specifying in high-traffic or high-noise locations
Why European Grade Profiles?
European-standard aluminium profiles — such as those manufactured by Schüco, Reynaers, or WICONA — are engineered to exacting tolerances and carry third-party performance certifications. These systems are rigorously tested for air permeability, water tightness, and wind resistance, giving building owners confidence that performance claims are independently verified.
At Liberty Aluminium & Glass, we only specify and install systems that meet UAE regulatory standards and carry appropriate European certifications. Contact us to discuss your project requirements.
